On the first of July we held the final of the DDL! In the end the two teams facing off against each other were Trivium an Cicero. The CA’s for the final were David Metz, Daan Spackler, Fabian Beitsma, Joris Graff, Linsey Keur, Saskia Bergmann, Lotte Claassen and Louis Honée. It was a very fun evening and we were happy so many people good come! The winners of the Tournament were Robert and Martin from Trivium! Here is a message from them:
“Competing in the DDL was awesome! We are proud to have won the title for Trivium. The organization by Debatbond was great and we are thankful to have been included as non-Dutch speakers.
We could not have won without the support of our debate society. The practice and feedback we got from our fellow members was instrumental to our success. They cheered us on through every round and hope we made them proud!
Each round was a blast, but the most exciting was the set of debates against Bonaparte in the semifinal. It was the only time we lost a debate in the entire competition and we barely went through on a one-point difference!
It was an honor to face Cicero in the final as well. After riding/flying all the way to Amsterdam, the organizers surprised us with a fun round of outdoors debating. The day concluded with an excellent social where we got to claim our trophy and celebrate with our friends. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience during our studies in the Netherlands.
Robert and Martin”
Thanks so much to everybody who came and made this a big succes!
